AUBURN HILLS, MI -- Dow Automotive has joined other members of the Detroit Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) to make sure that needy Michigan children have toys for the holidays. The company is donating enough high density polyethylene to make 30,000 plastic buses and is the only provider of plastic materials this year, given the limited availability of product in the marketplace. The toys will be colored, molded, decorated and delivered by volunteer organizations.
"Dow Automotive is committed to the communities where we live and work," said George Hamilton, President of Dow Automotive. "This project with SPE is all about the kids and we're making sure that we do our part to help brighten their holidays."
SPE is active in educating, promoting, recognizing, and communicating technical accomplishments for all phases of plastics and plastic based-composite developments in the global transportation industry. The toy donation program is celebrating its fifth year.
