Toutenkamion Launches its Composites Shelter to Answer the Armed Forces Needs
December 23 , 2005
The composites shelter for a Command post, designed to fulfil armed forces needs toutenkamion, european leader in the manufacture of special purpose trucks, launches its shelter made in composites, made of high performance glass fibre, reinforced resins and polyurethane foams. This combination enables the usable volume of the container to be multiplied by 5, without the use of supporting columns and gives a work space of 76m2.
Transportable anywhere by land, sea or air, the shelter can be set-up for operation in less than 2 hours by 4 people in a downpour or 50kmph winds. ISO 20 based, the Command post is sturdy and weather proof with integrated thermal and acoustical insulation. It took no less than 10 000 hours of 3D CAO design in addition to prototyping and testing to reach this level of performance.
Housing the sensitive electronics
This shelter allows the setting of a Command post that responds to critical requirements of the French armed forced and OTAN forces. Featured with computer desks and as many telephones, up to 30 people are able to undertake high tech tasks in an exceptionally safe and comfortable environment even under the most extreme climatic conditions anywhere on earth (temperature, wind, snow…) and also chemical and biological attacks.
This Command post is interconnected two by two and they can be connected to some others to make a sophisticated extended facility that can still be rapidly moved to another site. Modern armies need this type of equipment to house the sensitive electronics used in electronics wars, pacification operations or in backing up humanitarian organisations. In 2005, toutenkamion provided the last shelters (on a range of 28 shelters) to the French army.
