LEVERKUSEN -- Effective October 1, 2006, the Lustran Polymers business unit of the LANXESS chemical company has increased its prices for Novodur®, Lustran® (ABS) and Triax® (PA/ABS) resins by EUR 150 per metric ton. The continuing high cost of raw materials and the steep rise in energy and transport costs are the reasons for the price increases, which will affect the Europe and Latin America regions.
LANXESS engineering plastics are used mainly in the automotive industry, in electrical engineering and electronics, in domestic appliances and in medical technology. The Lustran Polymers business unit is part of the Engineering Plastics segment, which recorded sales of EUR 1.737 billion in 2005.
