Schwaig-based Demag Plastics Group presents its Extra EcQ, an injection moulding machine featuring exceptionally favourable operating costs and extremely short lead times. Several technical features make the Extra EcQ an economy machine that is fully equipped for standard tasks. With eight clamping forces between 350 and 2,000 kN, it duplicates the performance of the popular Extra series and stands out against competitive stripped-down special versions that are being increasingly launched on the market.
In designing its Extra EcQ special-offer injection moulding machine, Demag Plastics Group focused the empha-sis on efficiency in terms of low energy and operating costs. Processors are offered a broad choice of finely stepped clamping forces of 350, 500, 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,500, 1,700 and 2,000 kN, all with wide tiebar clearances of 280 x 280 mm to 580 x 580 mm. Two injection units, four screw diameters and two pump sizes are available per clamping force and provide many possibilities of configuring drive power and plasticating capacity.
The reason for the Extra EcQ's savings in energy and maintenance costs lies on a host of intelligent technical solutions.
Energy-saving motor in efficiency class EFF1
The central Siemens motor of the Extra EcQ is rated as EU efficiency class EFF1. Motors of this highest efficiency class substantially reduce energy consumption. More densely packed windings in the stator and an optimised clearance on the rotor have been demonstrated to re-duce losses by up to 45 %.
Parallel ejector movements
The ejector movement in the Extra EcQ taking place in synchronism with mould movement saves cycle time. Even a few tenths of a second per cycle will sum up to give a noticeable improvement in productivity which pays off in terms of low manufacturing costs.
Non-wearing ultrasonic stroke-measuring system
The non-contact ultrasonic stroke-measuring system of the Extra EcQ assures an accuracy of within 0.01 mm for injection as well as for mould and ejector movements. Digital transmission of the position data per CAN-bus to the machine controller permits extremely high precision and sensitive control of all motions and sequences.
In contrast to potentiometer-type equipment, ultrasonic stroke measuring systems offer an important advantage in that operation is without any wear eliminating the need for regular replacement.
Micro-filtration of the oil
The bypass micro oil filter provides extremely fine filtration, ensures a four times longer life of the oil, longer oil change intervals, and thereby reduces maintenance expense.
Comprehensive equipment
In addition to programmable back-pressure, the Extra EcQ comes standard with automatic screw identification for quick screw and cylinder chang-ing and a switch-on and switch-off program which provides unmanned and automatic start-up and shut-down. Also standard with the Extra EcQ is the quality package, a familiar feature of the Extra series. The package comprises an integrated printer, hydraulic-pressure-dependent change-over to holding pressure, injection by means of a Smart pump, and process data acquisition.
Two weeks delivery
The Extra EcQ can be delivered - depending on the model - within two to four weeks of customer's finalisation of the specification.
