Summerer Purchases Husky QTI System for Automotive Glazing
Nov 16, 2006
DUDELANGE -- Summerer Technologies GmbH & Co. KG (Rosenheim, Germany), a well known moldmaker and developer of automotive molding applications, has placed the first European order for Husky's Quadloc Tandem Index (QTI) system. The 3150 tonne (31500 kN) system is specially equipped for the production of large automotive glazing applications with two-component frame and assembly elements, and is due to be installed at Summerer's Rosenheim facility by the summer of 2007.
"As an innovator in highend moldmaking, particularly in the area of automotive glazing, we looked for a machinery supplier that could meet all of our requirements," Franz Josef Summerer, General Manager of Summerer Technologies, said. "We are convinced that Husky's Quadloc Tandem Index technology is currently the most complete solution for glazing applications."
"Attracting innovative companies such as Summerer with our advanced injection molding technology underlines our goal of becoming the foremost strategic partner for automotive Tier 1 suppliers," Karl-Heinz Hoefert, Husky's Business Manager, Automotive Europe, said.
The QTI integrates Husky's Tandem two-mold concept with its Index rotating center block on a Quadloc two-platen machine. Designed to produce complete multi-material automotive applications, including large interior and exterior parts such as body panels, instrument panels, fascias, as well as window and sunroof glazing, the QTI eliminates the need for secondary operations, improves part quality and reduces required floorspace.
The QTI was one of several injection molding machine technologies on display at Husky's Automotive Day event in Dudelange, Luxembourg on November 14.
