Unlike the melt-index ratings used by some compounders, Techmer PM's three standard titanium dioxide (TiO2) masterbatches designate the actual performance of the finished compound. Some rivals give the MI of the carrier resin; however, this MI is diminished by other ingredients added during the compounding process.
While Techmer PM's high-melt TiO2 masterbatches were originally engineered for injection molding applications-thin-wall containers in particular-they can also be used in other molding applications as well. All three regular formulations are suitable for food contact under sections 170-199 of Title 21. They offer good compatibility with most polyethylene resins and can be processed at temperatures up to 600F (315C).
In addition to the 125-melt TiO2 masterbatch designated PM13215E41, Techmer PM also offers TiO2 masterbatches with MIs of 85 and 50. These are respectively branded PM13214E4 and PM13213E16. All of the MI ratings are based on TiO2 pigment loadings of 50% in a polyethylene carrier resin.
