Dow Europe Announces Premium Pricing in Europe for Rigid Packaging High Impact Polystyrene Grades
March 23, 2006
HORGEN -- The present Dow polystyrene prices do not reflect the higher cost to produce some Dow polystyrene resins. Based on this situation, Dow Europe GmbH is announcing a price premium for high impact polystyrene resins used in rigid packaging applications across the European region.
Effective April 1, Dow will charge a 60 Euro per metric ton premium versus general purpose polystyrene resins (GPPS) for the following grades in rigid packaging applications: STYRON 457, STYRON 485 and STYRON A-TECH 1200. Citing the high cost of polybutadeine rubber, a key ingredient for HIPS, Javier Constante, polystyrene product director for Dow in Europe, said, "We must be able to recover not only our production costs, but also establish margins which will permit us to reinvest in the security of supply and product innovation for our customers."
