BASF Catalysts LLC Raises Prices on Kaolin-Based Pigments, Products for Speciality Markets
Sep 12, 2006
ISELIN, NJ -- BASF Catalysts LLC (formerly Engelhard Corporation) announced it is increasing prices for hydrous-, calcined- and surface-modified, kaolin-based pigments to the global specialty markets for paints, plastics, rubber, inks and other industrial applications.
Kaolin-based products for global specialty markets will be increased a minimum of 5% effective with shipments on and after October 15, 2006. Certain market segments will be increased substantially more than 5%.
Customers purchasing products on a delivered basis will bear any transportation cost increases, and previously announced energy surcharges remain in effect.
"Current selling prices do not justify reinvestment," said Robert Spadoni, BASF Catalysts' vice president and general manager for performance minerals. "While we are committed to continuing our efforts to increase our productivity and efficiencies, we must also increase prices if we are to remain a viable supplier to our Specialty customers."
BASF Catalysts LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF Corporation, is a world-leading provider of technologies for environmental, process and industrial applications.
