Albemarle to Raise Prices of Brominated Flame Retardant

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB), the world's leading manufacturer of flame retardants, will increase the global prices of SAYTEX® RB-49 flame retardant by up to 10 percent effective October 1, 2006, or as contracts allow.
This price increase is needed in part to support investments to meet increasing demand and help ensure security of supply to customers.
Albemarle is a leading supplier of bromine-, phosphorus- and metal hydroxide-based flame retardants for a variety of resins and end-use applications, including plastics, rubber, coatings and laminates for printed wire board, electronic enclosures, wire and cable, electrical and electronic connectors, and construction and furnishing materials.
