Arkema presents its latest product innovations at the 16th International Microtechnologies show in Besancon (France) from 26th to 29th September 2006 (Stand 702):
Graphistrength™
The carbon nanotube Graphistrength™ range comprises three grades: Graphistrength™ 100 P50, Graphistrength™ 200 P50 and Graphistrength™ C100. These products can be used in a wide range of applications, in particular as additives in materials such as thermoset composites, thermoplastics and rubber.
When suitably dispersed within their intended matrix, carbon nanotubes from the Graphistrength™ range impart their outstanding characteristics in terms of mechanical properties as well as electrical and thermal conductivity.
BlocBuilder®
The new BlocBuilder® technology opens up new possibilities in the control of radical polymerization reactions, and facilitates the development of polymers exhibiting closely tailored end-use properties.
The principle of the BlocBuilder® technology developed by Arkema entails the use of an original nitroxide-based molecule which initiates the polymerization reaction while at the same time controlling the final structure of the resulting polymer. FlexiBloc™ reactive polymers, a natural extension of the BlocBuilder® technology, are also on show.
The Nanostrength® range of acrylic block copolymers for advanced composite materials offers a major innovation: an acrylic block which is miscible with many polymers, most of which are the major industrial epoxy resins.
Arkema is today the world's first chemicals producer to market two Nanostrength® groups:
"SBM": polyStyrene-block-poly(1,4-Butadiene)-block-poly(Methylmethacrylate), and
Graphistrength™, BlocBuilder®, FlexiBloc™ and Nanostrength® trademarks belong to Arkema Group companies.
A global chemical player, Arkema combines 3 related and integrated business segments: Vinyl Products, Industrial Chemicals, and Performance Products. Present in over 40 countries with 18,400 employees, Arkema achieves sales of 5.7 billion euros (2005). With its 6 research centers in France, the United States and Japan, and internationally recognized brands, Arkema holds leadership positions in its principal markets.
