ARLINGTON, Vt. -- Mack Molding has just installed a partitioned cell for molding medical products at its headquarters plant in Arlington, Vt., it was announced by Headquarters Plant Manager Carl Bickford. The cell protects products from the millions of dust and debris particles typically found in any atmosphere.
Using positive differential pressure and HEPA filters, the fully enclosed molding cell removes harmful particulate from ambient air and provides a protective barrier for molding medical products. "This adds a level of cleanliness beyond the molding room floor, and is ideal for meeting both product development and ongoing production needs," adds Bickford.
Used primarily for low volume, multi-color products that require frequent and quick resin and tool changes, Mack's medical molding cell includes four hydraulic presses and one electric press that range from 40-100 tons of clamp force. Insert molding and computer-controlled laser engraving for lot control traceability are additional features.
A 24-hour operation, the molding cell is currently being used to mold orthopedic trials and disposable medical products.
