The world zeolites reserves are now determined, but are considered to be large enough. During 2009-2011, the global zeolites production witnessed poor but stable growth. Nevertheless, in 2012, the production volume declined by 2.9% and was over 2.86 million tonnes. In the same year, China was the dominant zeolites producing country, accounting for almost 70%. It was followed by Japan, South Korea, Turkey and Jordan with a combined share of approximately 21%.
Zeolites: world production broken down by country, 2012
Honeywell, Bear River Zeolite, Ash Meadows Zeolite, Teague Mineral Products, Qingdao Wish Chemicals, Huiying Chemical Products Xiamen, Amana Agricultural & Industrial, INA Marble and Zeolite, Guilin Guangming New Technology Company Limited, Steelhead Specialty Minerals and Green Technology Group are amidst the dominant companies in the worldwide zeolites market.
The Chinese zeolites production stayed at the same level in 2012, whilst zeolites consumption in the country grew by just over 30%. As of 2012, the domestic zeolites consumption was estimated at more than 1.39 million tonnes, and the Chinese zeolites production stood at 2 million tonnes. China is also one of the world’s most important zeolites exporters. The main destinations for Chinese zeolites include Japan, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia and the Netherlands.
At present, the worldwide zeolites market is dominated by the developing economies. Meanwhile, the mature markets of the West have not posted any large scale growth rates recently. The highest growth in the demand for zeolites is expected to be witnessed in APAC and the Middle East. The worldwide zeolites production is anticipated to see poor growth in the years ahead, reaching 2.98 million by 2017-end in volume terms.
