North America to Remain the Largest Calcium Chloride Consumer

The global calcium chloride production has demonstrated gradual increase over the past few years. In 2010, for instance, it stood at approximately 3.40 million tonnes and amounted to 3.47 million tonnes in 2012.

North America is a global leader in terms of production, with its production volume reaching 1.7 million tonnes in 2012. Asia and Europe are other prominent calcium chloride producers.

Country-wise, the USA ranks first among others countries producing calcium chloride. In 2012, it produced more than 1.1 million tonnes, while China and Canada manufactured 800,000 tonnes and 560,000 tonnes, respectively.

North America is also an industry leader in terms of capacity. As of 2012, the region accounted for over a half of the global capacity. Asia and Europe have significant calcium chloride capacities, as well.

The USA has the largest calcium chloride capacity if compared to other countries. China, Canada and Russia also have large capacities.

The global calcium chloride consumption was slightly over 3.4 million tonnes in 2012, an increase by 190,000 tonnes from 2010.

North America was the largest calcium chloride consumer in 2013. Region-wise, Asia-Pacific and Europe are other prominent consumers. In the meantime, the consumption of calcium chloride is expected to demonstrate a significant increase in the upcoming years due to rise of oil recovery as well as growing demand from such application areas as dust controllers.
