In 2005-2013, the global market for ammonium sulphate demonstrated sustainable growth. However, the recession posed a challenge to the market growth and the production dropped. In 2010, the situation improved and the production increased. Currently, ammonium sulphate is amidst nitrogen fertilizers enjoying the highest demand from the consumer side.
In 2013, the global output hit the mark of 23 million tonnes, up by approximately 3 percent if compared to 2012. Region-wise, APAC, Europe and North America represent top tree ammonium sulphate producers, with their production estimated at 10.15 million tonnes, 5.89 million tonnes and 3.6 million tonnes, respectively. In the meantime, China, the USA and Belgium are the most prominent producers amid countries.
Ammonium Sulphate: structure of the global production by country, 2013
APAC has the largest ammonium sulphate capacity, which was estimated at over 11.65 million tonnes in 2013. Europe and North America also have significant ammonium sulphate capacities. Country-wise, China, the USA and Japan have the largest capacities.
As of 2013, the global ammonium sulphate consumption stood at slightly over 23 million tonnes, with APAC being the most prominent consumer and Latin America and Europe lagging behind.

The ammonium sulphate production is set to continue growing in the near future. For instance, the global output is expected to be more than 25.4 million tonnes in 2017. APAC is expected to ramp up its production and China is forecast to demonstrate the highest production growth rates worldwide.
The global consumption is set to grow, as well. It is expected to be over 25 million tonnes in 2017.
APAC (China in particular) and Latin America are set to drive the market in the years to come, while the European and North American markets are likely to demonstrate relatively modest growth through 2018.
